From white water rafting to ziplining, there’s a fantastic world of outdoor adventure that awaits you. Not only will we list some information about each activity but we’ll also provide details about where you can actually participate yourself. Riding Dirt Bikes & ATVs
This fearless outdoor activity hits home with me and my family. My kids race motocross so riding dirt bikes and ATVs is pretty much every day life to us. That being said, there are a LOT of ways to ride dirt bikes and ATVs with or without being in the racing world.
I’m going to cover a few different ways to get out and riding dirt bikes and ATVs. Some options include rentals because, well, dirt bikes and ATVs cost a lot of money. While several riding facilities offer dirt bike rentals, none I’ve seen offer rentals for younger kids. California Motorsport Adventours
California Motorsport Adventours offers ATV/dirt bike tours between San Diego and Baja California Mexico. They offer 1/2 day tours up to 5 day tours for the more advanced rider. ATV or dirt bike rental is included in the tour package as well as helmets, goggles, gloves and riding boots.
The terrain on this trip will include sand dunes, a private race ranch as well as mountain trails. California Motorsport tours are great for both the beginner and advanced riders. Please note that you will be traveling between the US and Mexico; therefore, you need to have either a passport or drivers license & birth certificate on hand.

Hatfield-McCoy Trails
Feuding families might be a thing of the past but the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System is definitely an outdoor adventure anyone would love. The Hatfield-McCoy Trail system is located in southern West Virginia and is made up of over 800 miles of riding trails. The trails are open 365 days a year and are labeled by skill level.
The trails are connected through several small towns so you can stop for gas or grab a bite to eat. Their website features downloadable maps of all of the trails as well as a vast amount of area information on area lodging, restaurants and stores. Riding on the Hatfield-McCoy Trails only requires that you follow the rules and purchase an annual permit. The permit can be purchased online or at any permit vendor.

Flyboarding Outdoor Adventure
Invented in 2012, Flyboarding is a very exciting extreme water sport. Connected by a long hose attached to a personal watercraft, the rider stands on a board that is propelled into the air via water pressure. Boots with jet nozzles provide thrust for the rider to fly up to 72 feet in the air or dive through the water down as far as one is willing to go.
Hydrofly Watersports
Located in the waters of Charleston, South Carolina, Hydrofly offers an amazing opportunity for outdoor adventure. Rates for flyboarding are based on a lesson plus 20 minute flight. There are also group packages available, as well as add-ons such as the photo/video package and paddleboard rentals.
When you begin your outdoor adventure, you will be taken to Tiki Hut Island via a Yamaha wakeboard boat. But flyboarding isn’t the only option. Other water sport activities that Hydrofly offers includes jet ski rentals, boat charters and tubing too!

Ziplining Outdoor Adventure
Zip lines have been around for more than 2,000 years and were typically used as a means of transportation. It wasn’t until the 1970s when ziplining started becoming popular as a recreational activity.
Found in both upscale resorts and adventure camps, zip line tours are a very exciting outdoor activity. Most zip lines are set up in mountainous, wooded areas with spectacular views.
Legacy Mountain Ziplines
This awesome zipline complex is located in Sevierville, TN just minutes away from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The package offers a 7-line zipline tour that spans 4.5 miles of zipline at up to speeds of 50mph. Heights of up to 500ft offer you a great view of the Smoky Mountains.
During the tour at Legacy Mountain, guests also get to cross three rope bridges to take in the scenery at a slower pace. Tandem ziplining is also offered for those that want to bring along the kids. Children ages 3 and up are allowed to participate!!

SKYLINE HAWAI’I
Although this outdoor adventure might be a little far away for you, it is definitely one that needs mentioning. Opened in 2002, Skyline Hawaii was the first commercial zipline company in the United States. One of the major goals of Skyline is to give back to the environment. They decided to start planting native Koa trees and to donate 10% of their profits to non-profit environmental companies.
With three locations in the beautiful Hawaiian Islands, you can experience sunrise tours, a swinging bridge and even majestic waterfalls. Tours can range anywhere from 1.5 hours to 10 hours depending on your tour selection. The staff will even pick you up at your hotel.

Spelunking Outdoor Adventure
Spelunking, also known as caving, is a global recreational activity where you explore caves or grottos. In addition to total absence of light, enthusiasts climb, crawl, squeeze through tight spaces and even swim or scuba dive through cave systems.
The longest cave system in the world is the 400 mile long Mammoth Cave in Kentucky. Depending on the type of cave, tours are usually either adventure based or ecological based. Basic gear includes a hard hat or helmet, a light source, footwear with tread, a first aid kit and a caving partner.
Carlsbad Caverns National Park
If you’ve ever been curious about caving, Carlsbad Caverns is definitely a place to visit. Located in the Guadalupe Mountains of New Mexico, Carlsbad Caverns is a limestone cave laid down by an inland sea about 265 million years ago.
Lechuguilla Cave, Carlsbad Cavern’s largest, is 140 miles and 1,604 feet deep. Within the Carlsbad Caverns National Park, there are 67 species of mammals, 17 species of bats, 357 species of birds and 54 species of amphibians and reptiles. The park offers tours of the caves or you can go exploring on your own. There are truly a lot of interesting adventures that will await you at Carlsbad.

Luray Caverns
Luray Caverns is the largest cavern system in the eastern United States. Donned with impressive stalactites and stalagmites, The Great Stalacpipe Organ as well as Dream Lake mirroring the stalactites, this cave tour should definitely be on your bucket list.
Luray Caverns is really great for anyone to visit. The tour is now step-free and they even allow small pets (on a leash). Access to The Car & Carriage Caravan Museum, Shenandoah Heritage Village and Toy Town Junction are all included in the ticket price. They also offer a Rope Park Adventure as well as a Garden Maze.

White Water Rafting Outdoor Adventure
White water rafting is basically rafting through whitewater. What is whitewater? Whitewater is a form of river water that is characterized by fast, shallow stretches of water also known as rapids. Rapids are graded from one to six with six being the most dangerous.
As someone who has been white water rafting myself, I can attest that there are some things you need to know before you go. White water rafting isn’t for the faint of heart. It may be extreme and you may fall out of the raft. If you are not a water person, this probably isn’t the outdoor adventure for you. Staying dry when it’s chilly is a priority too (at least for me)! The only thing I regretted on my trip was not wearing a wet suit!
ACE Adventure Resort
The scenery in West Virginia is honestly “Almost Heaven” and the rafting trips provided by ACE Adventure Resort are no exception. Located adjacent to the New River Gorge National River, ACE offers white water rafting experiences for kids or beginners as well as seriously challenging trips for the experienced rafter.
ACE Adventure Resort offers much more than just rafting. There are 1,500 acres of adventure activities including a spring-fed waterpark lake full of inflatable toys, 2 smaller lakes for fishing, hiking and biking trails as well as cabin rentals and three dining options.

Wild West Rafting
Located in Gardiner, Montana, the Wild West Rafting experience on the Yellowstone River is an exciting outdoor adventure. Expect class II and III rapids as well as lots of wild life such as bald eagles, elk and deer.
Wild West Rafting offers day trips or overnight trips (where you might get to sleep in a teepee)! Other outdoor adventures such as kayaking, horseback riding, fly fishing and Yellowstone wildlife tours are also available.
