Have you ever wanted to explore the great outdoors, but didn’t like the idea of sleeping in a bag on the ground? Glamping may be a fantastic way for you to get off the grid while still enjoying your favorite amenities!

Glamping can be simply described as “glamourous camping.” This can obviously mean different things to different folks. Some prefer a full blown resort atmosphere; others just enjoy camping on a fancier level. Let’s go over some options.

Glamping: Unique Places to Vacation

Let’s talk first about some of the more unique glamping vacation spots. These places are unique in that they offer a quirky or eccentric type of space.

Treebone Resort ~ Big Sur, California

Treebone Resort in Big Sur, California is definitely unique to say the least! If glamping is what you want, glamping is what you will get at Treebone. Depending on how fancy you prefer your accommodations, this resort has you covered. The autonomous tent (shown above) is about as luxurious as you can get with amazing views of the ocean and a private bathroom.

If you’re looking for a more affordable (or unique) option, look no further. Treebone also offers Yurts, a Twig Hut and even a Human Nest among their accommodations. Additionally, Treebone offers amenities such as a pool, hot tub, massages, yoga classes, seasonal whale watching and hiking.

El Cosmico, located in Marfa, Texas, is a unique glamping experience in the high plains desert. Although there is plenty to do in the area, El Cosmico prides itself on offering an amazing nomadic environment. For example, simple accommodations are intended to promote sitting on porches, naps and other moments of non-action.

Above all, El Cosmico offers several different glamping options. Yurts, Teepees and Safari tents are among the “shelter” choices. Amenities include bike rentals, wood-fired Dutch hot tubs, a hammock grove and a communal outdoor kitchen.

Big Idaho Potato Hotel ~ Boise, Idaho

Yes, you can go glamping in a giant potato! This 6-ton potato previously traveled the country in the Idaho Potato Commission’s Big Idaho Potato Tour. Now it’s a hotel for two!

In addition to being super cool, the hotel also sits on 400 acres of farmland. You’ll get to relax in a spa retreat made from a customized silo and spend some time with your “loaner” pet jersey cow. Reservations for the Big Idaho Potato Hotel can be made on AirBnB.

Glamping: Amazing Treehouse Rentals

Technically, treehouses could probably be put in the “unique” category. However, there are actually more treehouse rentals than you might expect. Bring back a childhood memory or just enjoy the complete coolness of staying at one of these awesome locations.

Treehouse Mountain ~ Copperhill, Tennessee

Treehouse Mountain offers four very unique treehouses for your glamping pleasure. Each house offers an equipped kitchen, sleeping area and private firepit with wood. Although not all of the treehouses offer a full bathroom, there is a community bathhouse with showers and restrooms.

If you’d like to go higher end, the Rubicon treehouse offers both a full bathroom as well as a cedar wood-fired hot tub on the deck. Additionally, all of the treehouses have a deck to enjoy the great outdoors.

TreeHouse Point ~ Fall City, Washington

If you’ve ever seen the tv show Treehouse Masters, you know that Pete Nelson and his crew are top notch treehouse builders. Luckily, you have the opportunity to stay at Pete Nelson’s very own flagship overnight retreat. In addition to TreeHouse Point, Pete also owns four other amazing treehouse resorts:

Glamping: Products to Get Your Glamp On!

Let’s talk primitive camping. Well primitive with a bit of spice! Sometimes you don’t have the ability to travel to a resort. Therefore, having an array of glamping products is essential. In addition to your standard camping needs, these items will turn primitive into luxury.

MC Tomount Canvas Bell Glamping Tent

An amazing glamping trip will always include an amazing tent. Therefore, you should definitely take some time to check out MC’s Tomount 9.2′ tall canvas tent. As well as being extremely spacious and reasonably priced, this tent also sports a stove jack to safely install a wood burning tent stove.

UNDUSLUY Outdoor Portable Wood Burning Stove

Staying warm is a must when glamping! This portable wood burning stove can be installed directly inside a tent (as long as you have the appropriate venting). Depending on your glamping style, you can choose from stainless steel or iron. In addition, this portable stove can also be used for cooking!

Many people would say their least favorite part about primitive camping is the inability to take a shower. Not if you’re glamping! The Bushnell Shower Tent offers two separate rooms ~ one for showering and one for dressing. Also included is a 5 gallon water reservoir with shower head which can be heated in the sun. However, the High Crew Portable Water Heater with Shower can give you hot water at any time. This would also make a nice addition to the kitchen situation!

Lilypelle Folding Chaise Lounge Chair with Mattress

Sleep in comfort the glamping way! The Lilypelle Chaise Lounge Chair is a great addition to your gear. Offering 5 positions and a super soft mattress, the chaise even comes with a bag to carry it in.
